Though his bones are weak, 5-year-old Ladarius Spivey has the heart of a lion. Ladarius was born with three fractured bones in his leg as well a soft spot that ran from the front of his head to the back. Shortly after his birth, he was airlifted to Batson Children’s Hospital, where he was diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta, commonly known as brittle bone disease. Brittle bone disease is a genetic disorder in which the bones are susceptible to breaking. This courageous little boy refuses to let his prognosis slow him down. He is rarely seen without a basketball in his hands, and he loves to work on his game when he is at the hospital. The Cleveland Cavaliers have Lebron, Batson Children’s Hospital has Ladarius.
